1. What is GCF?
GCF stands for Group Collection Fixer. It is an expense sharing app which helps in maintaining daily expenditure and payment entries between group members. This is particularly helpful for people who share their expenses among themselves.
2. Is it free to use GCF?
Yes, it is and always will be :)
3. How to get the app for my smartphone?
• GCF Android app can be download from the PlayStore.
• GCF Windows phone app can be download from the Windows Phone Store.
• GCF Windows desktop app can be download from the Windows Store.
4. How to start using GCF?
Beginners can watch this video tour. The very first step is to sign up with GCF. After successful signup, a verification mail will be sent to your registered email address. Click on the verification link given and it is done.
Now start adding your friends or create groups. You need at least one friend in order to start making transaction.
5. Is it necessary to add a friend?
Yes. You need to have at least one friend so that you can make transaction.
6. Can I add a friend in group at a later stage?
Yes, a member can be added at any point of time no matter how old your group is.
7. Can I re-send Invitation to my friend?
No.
8. Can I involve in more than one group
Yes, you can join as many groups as you want.
9. What does a green/red color represent in balance page?
A person having balance in green is supposed to receive that much of amount from persons having balance in red.
10. What do you mean by a transaction?
Whenever you post a new bill or an IOU entry, we call it a new transaction.
11. What is the "Common Expenditure" input box in new transaction page?
This field is to enter the common expenses that is equally applicable to all of your the members you have included in that transaction. For example, San and Jon are two members added in a transaction. While creating a new transaction, they have entered $50 in common box and $30 & $40 in their respective expenditure box. In this case the system will calculate their final expenditure as $55(30+25) & $65(40+25) respectively.
12. When to use 'Repay' page?
When you are sending money to you friend to clear your debt, you should log it under 'Repay' page.
13. I have saved a wrong transaction. Can I edit or delete it?
Yes, you can edit or delete all the transactions you have entered. However, once your transaction is approved by someone, you are no more allowed to alter that.
14. What is significance of approving a transaction?
In simple words, its like freezing a transaction. Once a transaction is saved, it will be shown in pending transactions list untill another member approves it. Hence it is like double verification, since one member will be entering it and another will be approving it. Both are answerable for that transaction. Once a transaction is approved, it can no more be modified or deleted.
15. I can't see approve button in some of the transactions
Approve button is shown to you only if you are eligble to approve that transaction. Approve button will be visible to you for all those transactions that are not saved by you and you are participating either in expenditure or payment of that transaction. Moreover if a transaction is already approved by some other participant, It will not be visible.
16. I can't see edit button in transactions
You are allowed to modify only those transaction which are entered by you and still pending for approval. If it is not entered by you or it is approved, Edit option is disabled.
17. How to leave a group?
You can drop yourself from a group if your balance is zero and there are no pending transactions that includes you. The leave group option is available in Friends and Groups page.
18. How to use trip manager?
Create a new trip by giving a name and add the nicknames of people who are with you. Save it and then start making transactions under that trip. A consolidated balance is available on trip page which shows minimum number of money transfer to settle the debts.
19. Can I share trip details with other friends?
Yes, you can share the trip with one or more existing GCF friends. Once shared, they will also be able to make trip transaction and have same control over it.
